Help the Rescue Out

This month, Casual Furiday is highlighting a rescue that differs from the rest. Second Chance for Homeless Pets partners with local animal control centers across the state of Utah and rarely takes on pets relinquished by owners or strays. Instead, they utilize donations and resources, given by local donors and without government funding, to give pets on “kill lists” just what their name says, a second chance.

Because Second Chance for Homeless Pets works in accordance with animal control, they have an extensive list of resources for the public on their website. If you find an animal, they encourage you to call your local animal control center and check for a microchip. The shelter allows peace of mind by stating that these local control centers do not immediately euthanize. They truly do have the best interest of homeless animals in mind.

One of Second Chance’s biggest fundraisers is going to be put on this September. Their Annual Gala Dinner and Auction is an awesome event for the public that any SLC residents won’t want to miss! There will be numerous drawings and prizes for every budget, as well as a delicious menu, including butternut squash ravioli and all you can drink wine, beer and soda. Yum! Check out more details and grab tickets here:

We give Brightside Animal Center a 12/10!

Now let’s meet this month’s featured rescue, JD! JD is a neutered Shepherd mix who is about two years old. He’s been at the rescue for a few months, looking for his perfect match! Second Chance recommends a home with no other dogs or small children, but thinks he has potential to live with other dogs with some training!
